Deep Oscillation Therapy (D.O.T)
DEEP OSCILLATION® is a German, patented, electrostatic, electromechanical field therapy, which promotes lymphatic drainage of the tissues. As opposed to externally applied, mechanical forms of massage therapy which vibrate on the skin surface, deep oscillation works through the entire tissue layers to a depth of 8 cm (Solangel Hernandez Tapanes, MD, MSc, 2010), with clinically proven effects, through skin, connective tissue, fat, muscles, and blood and lymph vessels.
DEEP OSCILLATION® is a gentle treatment alternative for fresh trauma, postoperative, for acute pain and in the area of open wounds. It helps by speeding up and improving wound healing processes. Through the oedema-reducing and anti-inflammatory effect, the local metabolic elimination and ailmentation is improved in all tissue layers, whereby tissue regeneration and wound closure are encouraged on many levels.
DEEP OSCILLATION® can be very effectively utilised in the following areas:
Lympheodema and Chronic Oedema - Deep Oscillation applied both with Manual Lymphatic Drainage helps reduce inflammation much more quickly and results can be seen almost immediatly.
Lipeodema - Again used in conjunction with Manual Lymphatic Drainage, it can provide pain relief and mobility much more quickly.
Aesthetic Surgery Pre/Post - Deep Oscillation can be applied from the first day post operative which means patients can rehabilitate in a far quicker timescale than has previously been possible. Bruising, swelling and pain reduce as the daily treatment works on shuffling and transporting the excess inflammatory matter to the lymph system for removal.. Once the area is drained, it is able to regenerate.
Burns and Scars - Deep Oscillation can be applied as treatment to the wound area or its immediate surroundings. There is a visable improvement of decongestion and supply, enhancing a dynamic wound healing.
General Surgery Pre/Post - with Deep Oscillation, swellings and oedemas can be relived pre and postoperatively considerably faster than with conventional therapies. Because it can be used at an extremely early stage, would healing processes are stimulated and accelerated, local inflammation is inhibited and pain is significantly reduced over a sustained period. Scar quality is improved. It is an ideal conjuct to routine surgery aftercare. Due to its gentle effect it is used as a first line therapy for conditions after e.g. transplantation, mastectomia, caesarean section etc.
